What a sealed invoice is
A sealed invoice is a normal invoice file that Opcilo fingerprints and publishes on a verification page. Beside seal status, the page can show the amount due so payment is tied to the sealed record — not a swapped attachment. Invoicing here is a Pro workflow built on sealing — not the whole product. See Invoicing on Capabilities for the product overview.
That layout reduces the classic “which PDF was final?” argument. The client opens one link, confirms integrity, sees what they owe, and can pay without hunting a second portal — without claiming every invoice dispute disappears.

Issuer: Northwind Labs
Sealed: 17 Sep 2026
Recipients confirm integrity on the same page that can surface amount due and Pay Now.
The sealed-invoice workflow is short:
Seal the invoice
Upload the invoice in Opcilo. The platform stores the file, creates the seal, and prepares a verification page that can surface amount due next to integrity status.
Share the verification link
Send the link (or code) to your client. They open it without creating an account and confirm they are looking at the sealed invoice.
Pay Now or follow instructions
On the same page, the recipient uses Pay Now (Stripe handles the rail securely) or follows structured payment instructions you configured — still against the sealed amount due.
Track sealed and payment signals
You can notify when the invoice is sealed and when payment is reported. Channel options are covered in multi-channel notifications.
Why this reduces invoice disputes
Email threads invite revised PDFs and “corrected” totals. A sealed invoice makes the authoritative file and amount due visible together. If someone swaps the attachment later, the seal no longer matches — so payment conversations start from a shared, checkable record.
Typical outcomes for freelancers and AP teams:
- Fewer “wrong PDF” payment delays.
- One page for integrity status, amount due, and Pay Now.
- Clearer audit trail when finance asks which version was paid.
Plans and availability
After business verification (Know Your Business, or KYB), Pro and Team that are Issuer Verified can also pair invoices with a Trust Badge and business page so your issuer name carries more weight on the verification card.
Frequently asked questions
What does the recipient see on a sealed invoice?
Seal status, issuer context, document details, and — when configured — the amount due, with Pay Now or payment instructions on the same page.
Do clients need an Opcilo account to pay?
No. They open the verification link, confirm integrity, and use Pay Now or your instructions without signing up.
Which plan includes sealed invoices and Pay Now?
Pro and Team. Free includes sealing with limits, but Pay Now on sealed invoices is a Pro capability.
Can I get notified when payment is reported?
Yes — you can notify when sealed and when payment is reported. See multi-channel notifications for Email, SMS, and WhatsApp options.
