Multi-channel notifications: Email, SMS, and WhatsApp

Opcilo can notify recipients where they already read messages: Email, SMS, and WhatsApp. That is different from copying a verification link and pasting it into WhatsApp yourself. Telegram and more channels are on the roadmap — labeled coming soon until they ship.

Available Opcilo notification channels

When you share seals, send document requests, or need an unlock code, Opcilo can deliver notifications on Email, SMS, and WhatsApp as first-party notification channels. Overview: Notifications on Capabilities.

Channels you can rely on today:

  • Email — classic inbox delivery for verification and request links.
  • SMS — short messages when email is slow or unused.
  • WhatsApp — high relevance for MENA and global teams that live in chat.

How it works

A high-level notification workflow:

  1. Choose the action

Seal a document, share a verification link, send a document request, or trigger an unlock-related message from your workspace.

  2. Select an Opcilo channel

Pick Email, SMS, or WhatsApp as the Opcilo-sent notification path for that recipient — subject to plan limits and channel availability.

  3. Recipient opens the message

They receive an Opcilo-originated notification with the relevant link or code, instead of relying only on your manual paste into a chat app.

Opcilo-sent vs pasting a link yourself

Anyone can copy a verification URL and paste it into WhatsApp, SMS, or email. That is user-driven sharing. Opcilo notifications are different: the platform sends the message through integrated Email, SMS, or WhatsApp channels on your behalf, with delivery tied to the product action (seal shared, request sent, unlock needed).

Notification delivery should respect consent and local messaging rules. Capture opt-in where required, avoid unwanted spam, and keep recipient preferences accurate — especially for SMS and WhatsApp. WhatsApp matters strongly for MENA buyers who cannot rely on email alone.

Telegram is planned / coming soon on the roadmap, along with additional future channels. Until a channel ships, we label it coming soon rather than claiming it is live. Vendors that help send notifications are listed in the subprocessors register.

Frequently asked questions

Which notification channels does Opcilo support today?

Email, SMS, and WhatsApp are available Opcilo notification channels. Telegram is planned / coming soon on the roadmap.

Is pasting a verification link into WhatsApp the same as WhatsApp notifications?

No. Pasting a link yourself is manual sharing. Opcilo WhatsApp notifications mean the platform sends the message as a product notification through the integrated channel.

Why mention MENA for WhatsApp?

Many MENA and global teams cannot rely on email alone. WhatsApp is often where recipients already read messages, so it is a high-relevance delivery channel.

Where can I see notification vendors?

See the subprocessors register for vendors that help host documents, authenticate users, send notifications, and process payments.
